Im a Korean American who is not the best in Korean. Saw this over on Kickstarter and was interested. The game was very simple and easy to learn. You learn basic Korean alphabets and words. Don't expect any grammar or sentence structure. This is a beginner game but perfect for me and my friends who are trying to practice our Korean.
GOKO is such a fun easy game. I took a few sets of GOKO with me as I traveled to a remote region in Brazil. Without any prior knowledge or exposure to the Korean language, my Brazilian friends learned the game so quickly and got so good at it. It was a great ice breaker and a make-friends tool, and everyone loved the cute and intuitive illustrations. Thanks to the GOKO team for this wonderful game! I gave away all my stacks of GOKO cards in Brazil, so now I need to buy another one! haha.
I have played GOKO several times since I got it, and I am really enjoying the game while learning new Korean words. I feel like my Hangeul is growing with fun and useful words. Also, I have been learning the correct pronunciation thanks to teacher Dennis, who teaches a new word every day on GOKO's instagram.
We had a fantastic experience with Goko at the international culture day event at my kid's school. Thanks to Goko, our table was a big hit. Many kids came by and had a blast playing the game and learning Korean! It proved to be an excellent tool for cultural education for kids even without any knowledge in Korean.
